7 Tipps für ein stressfreies Weihnachtsfest - 7 Tipps für ein stressfreies Weihnachtsfest

In the hectic hustle and bustle of the pre-Christmas period, many people long for a relaxed celebration, without stress and hassle. In my latest blog post, I share valuable tips on how you can approach the holidays calmly. From planning ahead to delegating tasks to taking a little time out - let's work together to ensure a stress-free and contemplative Christmas.

How do you relax at Christmas?

Actually, Advent, the Christmas that follows and the many traditions are one of my favorite times of the year. Every time I resolve to spend this time as relaxed as possible with my loved ones and to enjoy the anticipation of Christmas. Unfortunately, things often turn out differently than expected. Advent quickly turns into a stressful time. A meeting for a warm glass of punch, shopping in the crowded city center, Christmas errands, the company Christmas party - and Christmas is just around the corner.

But this year I've made a decision. I want to experience Christmas stress-free and have thought about how I can achieve this. Here are some tips that help me not to get stressed this year.

1. Set the right priorities

Instead of being overwhelmed by an endless to-do list, I choose to put what's most important first. In my case, spending time with family and friends.

2. Timely planning

The sooner you start preparing and planning, the sooner you'll be finished. Instead of last-minute shopping and rushing through crowded shops, I start preparing in November. I also keep a list of gift ideas all year round. This way I avoid impulsive purchases and can make the recipient happy.
Also consider: On which day do we want to visit whom? Who is coming to us? Clarify everything straight away to avoid disappointment and find a good solution for every meeting.

3. Don't do everything alone

I've also made a point of asking for help when I need it. We tend to want to do everything ourselves, but Christmas should be a time of togetherness. So I'll ask friends and family for help when I need it; whether it's cooking, decorating or other preparations. It's more fun together.

4. Recharge your batteries

Self-care is an aspect that we often forget in the hustle and bustle. But it is especially important to take care of yourself in these stressful times. That's why I plan regular breaks, be it for relaxation, meditation or a bit of exercise.
If everyday life doesn't allow for much downtime, there are many ways to create little oases for yourself:

  • Breathing breaks : Consciously take a moment to breathe deeply. Three deep breaths can have a surprisingly calming effect.
  • Short walks : Take short breaks to get some fresh air. Even a five-minute walk can be refreshing.
  • Mindful eating : When you eat, concentrate on it. Notice the flavors and enjoy every bite. This can be a source of relaxation even during quick meals.
  • Digital time out : Plan conscious times without screens. Turn off your phone for a few minutes and make space for your thoughts.
  • Mindfulness in everyday life : Be aware of what you are doing. Whether you are washing dishes, working or looking after the children – give it your full attention.
  • Moments of gratitude : Take a moment to reflect on the things you are grateful for. Even in stressful moments, there is often something positive.

5. Be flexible

Also important: staying flexible, which means being open to the unexpected. Instead of stubbornly sticking to a plan, I try to be flexible and accept situations calmly. Life is unpredictable and it is often these moments that create the best memories.

6. Set boundaries

Saying "no" is an important lesson I've learned. You don't have to accept every invitation or feel responsible for every task.

7. Make it easy for yourself

Perfectionism is not necessary at Christmas. I remind myself that it is okay if not everything goes smoothly. For example, if the holiday meal is "just" prepared with love, without the expectation of being able to compete with a restaurant. What really counts is the love we share.

Stress-free Christmas is possible if we adjust our expectations of ourselves and others. It is also more important to look after yourself and your own needs during this time. This year I promise myself to celebrate Christmas with less stress and more joy. I hope these tips will help you to enjoy the pre-Christmas period to the fullest.
